End-of-Life Care: Which Options and at What Cost?
City of Hope/89.3 KPCC Winter Forum 2010
The California Endowment
100 N. Alameda St. Los Angeles, CA
7-8:30PM
At the end of life, a person is often living, and dying, with one or more chronic illnesses and needs care for days, weeks, or even months.
One of the most difficult issues to emerge during the national debate on health reform is how to best care for people in the final stages of life. What kind of treatment should a dying person receive? Who ought to pay for this care? And how are these difficult decisions made?
Join us for a thought-provoking evening on the ethical and financial issues that are important in the care of people near the end of life.
Speakers: Compassion & Choices Director of Legal Affairs Kathryn Tucker J.D., Alexander Capron, L.L.B Professor of Law and Medicine, Keek School of Medicine; Co-Director, Pacific Center for Health Policy and Ethics, University of Southern California and Larry Mantle, host of AirTalk on 89.3 KPCC since April of 1985
