Washington Aid-In-Dying Initiative Workshop (I-1000)

Washington State’s passage of the Death With Dignity Act in November was a turning point on the path to human liberty for the citizens of the state.  The next steps require the various stakeholders to learn about their roles in the implementation of the voter’s will.

Advocates for Washington’s new Death With Dignity Law met with attorneys in Seattle on Friday, January 10, 2009 for a discussion on guidelines for working with the law.  Compassion & Choices Legal Director Kathryn Tucker helped lead the workshop, providing information on appropriate counseling of clients about Washington Death With Dignity.  In addition,  George Eighmey with Compassion & Choices of Oregon and Robb Miller of Compassion & Choices of Washington State were on hand to bring information to attendees on their rights and responsibilities under the law.

These attorneys in Washington State will clearly have a role in counseling those who want to know more about Death With Dignity. This workshop was an opportunity for them to engage in the particulars and will help them provide competent advise to their clients.
