Study: Feeding tube use is independently associated with nursing homes’ fiscal, organizational, and demographic features. You can read a Providence Journal story here, quoting the author of the study, Dr. Joan M. Teno, as saying she is concerned that Catholic hospitals may be trying to override the wishes of patients when they insist on feeding tubes. Study: End of life discussion benefits patients and families.
The study, "Associations Between End-Of-Life Discussion, Patient Mental Health, Medical Care Near Death and Caregiver Bereavement Adjustment," can be found here: Full Study»
Study: All patients using Oregon Death With Dignity Act were mentally competent to make informed choice.
The study, published in the British Medical Journal also found that patients who received prescriptions under the Act were less anxious or hopeless than those who did not.
