 “Spirituality and Aging”

BRING A FRIEND!

Started in the early 1980s, this chapter serves the entire state of Georgia.  Through a concerted effort begun in 2003, the members of this chapter began to build relationships with Georgia legislators whom we identified as interested in end-of-life issues.  It was determined that the best course of action would be to pursue a resolution designating the week of November 7-13, 2005 as Health Care Decisions Week (HCDW).  Collaborative partners such as the Georgia Division of Aging, Georgia AARP, the Georgia Health Policy Center, and others crafted the wording of the resolution which encourages all Georgia citizens to:

1. Think about and talk to their loved ones and physicians about their wishes for medical care; and

2. Complete advance directives and share their end-of-life wishes.

In February 2005, both the House and Senate unanimously passed this resolution.  Among the most important outcomes of HCDW 2005 are the establishment of many bipartisan legislative relationships, new partnerships with prestigious statewide groups who share these same interests, and recognition of Compassion & Choices GA as a mover and shaker.

We are looking for legislative volunteers; please call and get involved.
