Facing a Terminal Illness
You and your loved ones may have many questions. We can help you:
1. Learn more about hospice care, including finding a local hospice
2. Speak frankly with your hospice providers or physician if your needs are not being met
3. Explore your options, including learning more about hastening death if suffering becomes unbearable
4. Talk honestly with your family and friends about your wishes
5. Ask your physician or other health care provider the "hard" questions about what you can expect in the future
6. Make decisions about continuing treatment
7. Feel supported when your loved one is ill and your responsibilities are expanding
Our counselors are here to listen to your concerns and provide helpful information to you and your loved ones. We may be able to provide a volunteer who can provide this information and support in your hometown.
Note: Compassion & Choices does not provide the means to hasten death, nor do we administer the means. We offer information, support and a presence at the death of a qualified client.
Call us at 800.247.7421 and ask to speak to one of our counselors. We are available to talk with you weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Our counselors are busy, so if you have to leave a message we will make every effort to get back to you within 24 hours.
