Faced with a terminal diagnosis, Utah residents deserve the full range of options for care at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.

On January 21, Representative Jennifer Dailey-Provost introduced HB 0074, legislation seeking to legalize medical aid in dying in Utah for the 2022 session. H.B. 0074 had a hearing in the House Health & Human Services Committee on February 15, 2022. Despite strong testimony from supporters in favor of this compassionate option, the bill did not pass a committee vote and will not move forward this legislative session. We will continue to build grassroots support for this legislation to pass in the future.
