Bonnie Lawhorn is the national director of marketing and communications at Compassion & Choices. She joined the organization with great passion for the mission of improving care and expanding options for the end of life. Bonnie brings a wealth of experience in materials development, content strategy, community cultivation and nonprofit marketing. She began her career as a production editor in healthcare publications and evolved into marketing and communications. Prior to joining Compassion & Choices, Bonnie served as marketing director for The Treatment and Learning Centers, helping individuals with special needs, and more recently as part of the communications team in the Office of Public Liaison at The National Cancer Institute, where she was dedicated to improving communications for families affected by childhood cancers. She holds a seat on the board of The Evan Foundation, supporting research to foster new therapeutic options for kids currently in treatment for neuroblastoma. In her free time, Bonnie writes fiction under a pseudonym. Bonnie has a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland.
