On March 20, dozens of Compassion & Choices supporters delivered testimony in front of the Connecticut General Assembly’s Joint Public Health Committee in support of An Act Concerning End of Life Options (HB 5417).  Members of the committee will meet to discuss and possibly vote on this bill before March 28th deadline.

Representative Josh Elliot introduced HB 6238, “An Act Concerning the Option to Die with Dignity”, for the 2017 legislative session.

Medical Aid in Dying legislation has been introduced in the Connecticut legislature four times in the past five years, in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. The bills were heard in Committee, but did not receive a vote. To encourage passage, Compassion & Choices has mounted an intensive grassroots campaign to identify and mobilize supporters in every legislative district in the state.

Compassion & Choices is busy educating key stakeholders and the media — both the Hartford Courant and Newtown Bee have endorsed authorizing death with dignity in Connecticut — and gathering supporters for a critical Informational forum planned for June or July in Hartford.
