Connecticut Campaign’s Fight for Aid-in-Dying
Currently, there is no pending medical aid-in-dying legislation in Connecticut. However, Compassion & Choices is continuing to educate legislators, stakeholders and the media. Our Education and Awareness Campaign needs your support. Join our efforts by clicking here. Let’s advance end-of-life options together.
Representative Josh Elliot introduced HB 6238, “An Act Concerning the Option to Die with Dignity”, for the 2017 legislative session.
Medical Aid in Dying legislation has been introduced in the Connecticut legislature four times in the past five years, in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. The bills were heard in Committee, but did not receive a vote. To encourage passage, Compassion & Choices has mounted an intensive grassroots campaign to identify and mobilize supporters in every legislative district in the state.
Compassion & Choices is busy educating key stakeholders and the media — both the Hartford Courant and Newtown Bee have endorsed authorizing death with dignity in Connecticut — and gathering supporters for a critical Informational forum planned for June or July in Hartford.
