In 2015, for the first time in years, federal policymakers took significant steps to improve care and expand choice at the end of life. Notably, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a regulation that allows doctors to be paid to have conversations with patients about their values and priorities at the end of life.
