Campaign to End Unwanted Medical Treatment
The mission of the Campaign to End Unwanted Medical Treatment is to ensure people receive the medical treatment that they want consistent with their goals, preferences and values – nothing less and nothing more. In order to fulfill this mission, we must overcome and remove barriers in current laws that prevent people from receiving treatment that is inconsistent with their wishes.
There are 19 collaborating organizations in the campaign, including American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and National Hispanic Council on Aging.
Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights
The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 200 national organizations to promote and protect the civil and human rights of all persons in the United States. Through advocacy and outreach to targeted constituencies, The Leadership Conference works toward the goal of a more open and just society – an America as good as its ideals. Among the 200+ conference members are American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Human Rights Campaign and the National Black Justice Coalition.
Leadership Council on Aging Organizations (LCAO)
Leadership Council of Aging Organizations is a large coalition of national nonprofit organizations serving older Americans. The diverse 72-member association is dedicated to preserving and strengthening the well-being of America’s older population. They provide a voice for seniors and their families in the ongoing national debate on aging policy. Council members include AARP, American Public Health Association, Jewish Federations of North America, National Association for Home Care & Hospice, and the AFL-CIO.
National Coalition on Mental Health & Aging (NCMHA)
National Coalition on Mental Health & Aging is comprised of over 80 members representing professional, consumer and government organizations with expertise in mental health and aging issues. Its goal is to work together toward improving the availability and quality of mental health preventive and treatment services to older Americans and their families. Coalition members include the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, Leading Age and National Association of Social Workers.
Coalition for Liberty and Justice
The Coalition for Liberty & Justice is a broad alliance of faith-based, secular and other organizations that works to ensure that public policy protects the religious liberty of individuals of all faiths and no faith and to oppose public policies that impose one religious viewpoint on all. It over 50 members such as Catholics for Choice and the National Council of Jewish Women. The Coalition is a strong supporter of aid in dying.
