Compassion & Choices celebrates Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated every year to honor the legacy of Dr. King and encourage everyday Americans to participate in a day of service in their communities. Last year, Compassion & Choices sponsored the 16th annual Memorial Foundation ‘Leaders of Democracy’ Awards Luncheon during the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The Memorial Foundation launched in 2012 to promote the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The memorial serves as a permanent place to remember the legacy of Dr. King in our nation’s capital and reminds us, at Compassion & Choices, of the importance of building a legacy of your own.

Dr. Elisha Hall, African American Engagement Director, said, “the Memorial Foundation continues to amplify the importance of remembering Dr. King and standing up against injustice in order to continue his legacy. Compassion & Choices is proud to provide individuals and families resources and information to think about the legacy they will leave behind for future generations.”
