At Compassion & Choices, we want to help everyone make fully informed end-of-life decisions aligned with their beliefs and priorities — where all parts of their identity and background are honored in their care. Our mission is to ensure healthcare equity during life's final stage, empowering diverse communities to access respectful, values-aligned care.
Our work includes multicultural outreach, tools and resources tailored to unique perspectives, advocating for the removal of barriers to end-of-life options and fighting to authorize the full range of choices in more states. We forge partnerships with organizations rooted in under-resourced communities, amplifying their voices and addressing specific needs.
Our partnership with SAGE, an organization dedicated to advocacy and services for LGBTQ+ elders, is a great example. Together we produced the LGBTQ+ Advance Care Planning Toolkit, equipping people with the resources they need to navigate end-of-life planning, including choosing a healthcare proxy, preparing for emergencies, honoring loved ones and more.
