History

Tennessee State Representative Tim Wirgau introduced House Bill 1394, Right to Die, and Senator Reginald Tate introduced a companion Senate Bill 1378 on February 9, 2017. The House bill was withdrawn and the Senate bill failed to move out of committee.

A May 2015 Vanderbilt University poll showed 55 percent of Tennesseans to be in favor of permitting doctors to assist people with painful, incurable diseases to painlessly end their lives.
