2018

On February 2, 2018, the Health & Social Services Committee passed the the Alaska Voluntary Ending of Life Act, moving it on to the Judiciary Committee.

2017

In December 2017, the Girdwood Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in support of a resolution in favor of medical aid-in-dying legislation in Alaska. The campaign to pass the resolution was spearheaded by the Girdwood Compassion & Choics Action Team leader. Compassion & Choices National Director of Policy & Programs, along with other supporters, participated in its first hearing hearing on March 29, 2017.

In 2017, Representative Harriet Drummond introduced HB 54, the Alaska Voluntary Ending of Life Act.The bill was heard in the House Health & Social Services Committee on April 6, 2017.
